What Is Appraisal?
Appraisal is an important and often misunderstood part of the claims process. Appraisal may take place if there is a monetary disagreement between the two parties involved in the claim, the Insured and the Insurer. Although the Insurer might agree to the damage on your property, there is often a discrepancy in the actual amount offered for the claims settlement. Appraisal is a process that can be invoked in order to settle these differences. Claimstar provides this service to homeowners, representing you as a 3rd party adjuster unassociated with the claim. During appraisal we will meet another 3rd party appraiser representing your insurance company to discuss the claim, come to an agreement, and provide you with a fair settlement to your loss.
Why It Matters
Claimstar is able to help you receive the settlement you deserve if you are not satisfied with the offer from your insurance company. If you find yourself in a situation where you filed a claim and do not have enough funds to get the work done properly, that is a good time to call. Oftentimes, insurance companies will “lowball” an estimate, either unknowingly or because they do not want to pay the full amount, and consider the claim closed. Whether or not this is done intentionally, homeowners like you need the assistance to recover the appropriate amount to indemnify your loss. This is the situation to invoke appraisal.
